Lakes, rivers, bays, forests, and beaches—that’s what Michigan residents are referring to when they use the term “up north”. Hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, and skiing opportunities are abundant here in Northeast Michigan. Let’s not forget the plentiful mountain bike trails: The Black Mountain Ramble, which, incidentally, is actually a flat area, is 35 miles long. There’s also the roller-coaster Chippewa Hills Pathway, and many others. While traveling through Northeast Michigan, you’ll certainly want to take a break in some of our enchanting villages and towns along the way. Golf and skiing are the center attractions in the town of Gaylord, and if you’re in training, you’ll want to see the annual Memorial Day Mackinac Bridge Run in Mackinaw City. Time spent here in Northeast Michigan will create memories you will revisit over and over again.  Select the city you wish to visit fron the list below.

So much to see and do here in the Northwest Region of Lower Michigan. The scenic counties found here include: Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, and Wexford. Frankfort is home to the East Shore Marina, where fishing on Lake Michigan is at a premium. There are many charters available through the Northwest Michigan Charter Service, including a day on the Intimidator, whose captain and crew will guide you on quite the exciting fishing expedition! Fish for Lake Trout, Chinook, Brown Trout, King Salmon, and the delicious Coho. Docks and marinas are available all through the region in the following towns: Baldwin, Beulah, Big Rapids, Brethren, Cadillac, Evart, Frankfort, Fremont, Hart, Irons, Lake City, Ludington, Manistee, Manton, McBain, Mecosta, Mesick, Newaygo, Pentwater, Reed City, Shelby, Wellston, and White Cloud. Whew! Choose one or more of these locales for your fishing vacation, and read on for information about all the fantastic attractions available at each of our beautiful cities and towns, including museums, science centers, historical sites, and much more. Lake Huron and Lake Erie, together with coldwater ponds, are what remains of the glaciers that once covered the Southeast area of Michigan. There’s no lack of recreational waterways here, as the Great Lakes are joined by the Detroit River, the St. Clair River, and Lake St. Clair. Metropolitan Detroit, sometimes called “ Motor City” for the automotive industry’s home there, is surrounded by communities as an extension of the city. Ann Arbor, Monroe, and Irish Hills are a few examples. Lighthouses, parks, museums, fishing—so many activities are available for the whole family. Our comfortable bed and breakfast inns are an excellent choice for lodging while you vacation in Southeast Michigan. The lovely accommodations will certainly draw you back another time. The Dexter Cider Mill and the Bentley Historical Library are two examples which showcase the rich history of this region--once a stop on the Underground Railroad, as those living in Quaker villages assisted slaves who sought freedom in the North. Any sporting enthusiast will certainly recognize the world’s largest outfitter, Cabela’s, which is one example of the shopping opportunities which await you. Ready for a winter weekend getaway? Southeast Michigan offers a host of cold weather sports: dog sled racing, skiing, and ice fishing, for example. The fun and relaxation is never ending; come visit us and see for yourself!  Select the city you wish to visit fron the list below.

Southwest Michigan is a beautiful, peaceful, and interesting area to visit—whether passing through, planning a winter weekend getaway, or a full summer vacation. Beaches, sunsets, fine dining, sand dunes—all lovely attractions of Lake Michigan, and waiting for you here in Southwest Michigan. Some special items of interest? There’s fun with the minor league baseball team, the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays. Then the awesome Musical Fountain at Grand Haven. The hiking trails and the lovely climate are beckoning you to the area, but how about some unique family fun? Skydiving at Hastings is a real thrill. A little more subdued, but still entertaining are the Soccer Spot, the Higher Ground Climbing Center, and Laser Quest game, also located in Grandville. The southwest region of Michigan provides 30 percent of the fruit that is produced in the state. Peaches, apples, grapes, and blueberries are most abundant at our 1200 orchards and farms. Southwest Michigan is a lovely place to be at any time of the year.  Select the city you wish to visit fron the list below.

Visitors to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will need plenty of time to fully explore the area’s diverse and beautiful terrain. From waterfalls to lake shores, from mountain vistas to thick-forested trails, the Upper Peninsula is a nature lovers dream! The 384-mile-long peninsula stretches from Drummond Island in the east to Ironwood in the west and reaches 233 miles wide from Menominee in the south to Copper Harbor at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula in the north. The Upper Peninsula is home to Tahquamenon Falls located in the nearby Tahquamenon Falls State Park. The Tahquamenon are the one of the largest falls east of the Mississippi River and the 40,000 acre park surrounding them offers miles of trails perfect for hiking in the summer, spring and fall and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Another spectacular location is the Isle Royale National Park. This roadless park is only accessible by boat and float plane and provides an abundance of activities. Isle Royale has 165 miles of scenic hiking trails, here is excellent fishing, historic lighthouses and shipwrecks, ancient copper mining sites, and plenty of spots to observe wildlife. The hundreds of lakes and streams throughout the Peninsula mean there is never a shortage of fishing and boating. The many lighthouses along the 1,700-miles of shoreline are a great way to tour the entire area. There is the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse overlooking Lake Michigan, the Sand Point Lighthouse with its Maritime Museum, the Peninsula Point Lighthouse in the Hiawatha National Forest, Round Island Lighthouse on Mackinac Island and many more. These are just a handful of the many exciting places to visit.  Select the city you wish to visit fron the list below.
